Hyundai's Staria EV: The Big Boy Electric Van Hits the Streets!

TL;DR: Hyundai's largest EV yet, the Staria EV, has been spotted in action on public streets, looking even bigger than anticipated. This electric MPV boasts seating for up to nine, an 800V system, and 400 km range, set for a 2026 launch.

Meta: Hyundai's large electric MPV, the Staria EV, is caught in action on public streets, showcasing its spacious design and 800V architecture.

Alright, alright, settle down now! Hyundai's been cookin' up something big, and I ain't talkin' about another SUV. We're talkin' about their biggest EV yet, the Staria EV, and this electric MPV just got caught out in the wild for the first time! And let me tell ya, this thing looks even bigger in real life than it did on the spec sheet. It's like the Volkswagen ID.Buzz went to the gym and came back swole!

The Electric Van That Can!

Hyundai just unveiled this Staria EV earlier this month at the Brussels Motor Show, and it's essentially an all-electric version of their gas-powered Staria. But this ain't your grandma's minivan; this is a full-on electric beast. Measuring over 5.2 meters long, it's even bigger than Hyundai's own IONIQ 9 three-row electric SUV. That's a lot of real estate, baby!

And it's not just big; it's got style. It sports a closed-off grille and new lighting to make sure you know it's electric. You can get it in a 7-seater Luxury or a 9-seater Wagon configuration, and with over 1,300 liters of luggage space, you can haul the whole family, their luggage, and maybe even a small pony. Alright, maybe not a pony, but you get the idea!

We got a video that gives us a pretty clear look at this Staria EV cruisin' on public streets in South Korea:

Tech-Loaded for the Long Haul

Inside, it's a lounge on wheels with a flat floor and flexible seating. You got Hyundai's latest connected car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) infotainment system, with dual 12.3-inch displays. And get this: wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto! Because nobody got time for cables anymore.

Under the hood, or should I say, under the floor, it's packin' an 84 kWh battery and a 160 kW front-mounted electric motor, giving it a WLTP range of up to 400 km (249 miles). And with its 800V electrical system, it can charge from 10% to 80% in as little as 20 minutes. That's faster than you can decide what snack to get at the charging station!

Plus, it comes with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, so you can power your tools, your laptop, or even a mini-fridge for those family road trips. Hyundai's droppin' this bad boy in Korea and Europe in the first half of 2026. Will it come to the U.S.? Hyundai ain't sayin' yet, but since the gas version ain't here, it's lookin' like a long shot for now. But hey, a man can dream, can't he?

What's Next

The Staria EV represents Hyundai's strong commitment to expanding its electric lineup into new segments, specifically large-capacity MPVs. Its 800V architecture and V2L capabilities position it as a highly versatile vehicle for both families and businesses. Success in its initial markets (Korea and Europe) could influence future global availability, including potential reconsideration for the North American market if demand for electric vans and MPVs continues to grow. We'll be watching for its real-world performance metrics once deliveries begin later this year.

So if you're lookin' for an electric ride that's got room for the whole crew and then some, keep an eye on Hyundai's Staria EV. It's big, it's electric, and it's ready to roll! That's how we do it!
