Tesla's Charging Power Play: Second 500kW V4 Supercharger Unleashes Ultra-Fast Speeds!

Hold onto your charging cables, folks, because Tesla just dropped some serious power on the U.S. map! They've gone and opened their second true V4 Supercharger, this time in Taylorsville, Utah. We're talking 500 freakin' kilowatts per stall, capable of juicing up your ride faster than you can say 'range anxiety'! Now, that's what I call a power play!

This ain't your grandma's charging station, honey. We're talking next-generation tech, pairing V4 charging posts with the new V4 power electronics cabinets. What's that mean for you? It means unlocking the full performance potential for battery systems up to 1,000 volts. So, if you got a Cybertruck, or any other high-voltage EV coming down the pike, you're gonna be a happy camper. Everyone else? Well, you'll still get a fast charge, but the Cybertruck owners are gonna be doing the happy dance.

Powering Up the Future

The Utah station boasts 16 charging posts, though only eight are active right now – a little software hiccup they're working out, no biggie. It's all about future-proofing, baby! These V4 stations are built to handle what's coming, not just what's here. And yes, it's got that NACS connector, so it's open for all you Tesla drivers and approved NACS partners. Sorry, CCS, you'll need an adapter, but hey, at least you can still join the party!

This follows the first true V4 Supercharger that popped up in Redwood City, California, where we saw a Cybertruck actually pull that full 500 kW. Now, it don't stay at 500 kW for long, it tapers off like a good stand-up routine, but that initial punch is undeniable. Tesla's director of charging, MdeZegher, even chimed in on Twitter about the stalls, saying more will be active soon!

Kiosks and Kilowatts

And here's a little something extra: these new V4 sites are rolling out with centralized payment kiosks instead of individual card readers on each stall. That's a smart move, especially for non-Tesla drivers, making it easier to pay and monitor your session. Less hardware, less maintenance, more convenience. It's all part of the grand plan to make EV charging as smooth as a fresh batch of buttered popcorn.

More V4 Superchargers are coming, with projects underway in Texas, Oregon, and Tennessee. So, whether you're rolling in a Cybertruck or just looking for a seriously fast charge, Tesla's got you covered. They're building the future, one super-fast kilowatt at a time. It's a beautiful thing!

What's Next

Expect to see Tesla continue this aggressive V4 rollout, especially as more high-voltage EVs hit the market. The expansion is critical not just for Tesla's own fleet, but also for its NACS partners, who will benefit from these next-gen speeds. The focus will be on activating those remaining stalls and ensuring the network can handle the increasing demand for ultra-fast charging. The centralized payment system will likely become the standard, streamlining the user experience even further across the growing network.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I gotta go find a V4 charger for my golf cart. Just kidding! Or am I? Stay charged up, folks!
